Well, I sent parts to a gunsmith to fix the ****ty job another smith did on one of my dream guns

When it gets here it will be a Corps of Discovery modified 1792/94 contract rifle - the US military first guns

It is a Lancaster styled full stock rifle with a 54 cal 36" slow twist barrel with 1803 Harpers Ferry lock - this build is one possibility of the guns that Lewis and Clark took with them

I have no idea what you said, except that it's a rifle. Post some pictures when she's back home! :)

The 1792/94 Contract Rifles were made for the US Military by several different Lancaster makers - Dickert, Grumpf etc they were commissioned by Henry Knox and many were stored at Harpers Ferry Arsenal - these are guns that were possibly/probably modified for the Corps of Discovery using new Harpers Ferry 1803 lock - and originally they had 42" 49 caliber barrels that were possibly shortened and refreshed to 54 caliber and sling swivels added
