I'm new here, thought I would register and check it out. Awhile back, I went shooting with my dad, and got hooked on his ruger pistols. Specifically his Mark I, which is special to him as it belonged to his dad. He has a huge gun collection, though now a days, he only shoots the 22's for target practice.

He got me hooked on target shooting, and the wife said the only way I can have a gun is no ammo in the house. That made the decision easy, wont need it for protection, so I got this today...

Ruger NR 9, (had a very hard time finding the 9.5 inch version). Should be a lot of fun at the range, and it can take 22 LR and 22 Magnum.

Then I got to thinking, the wife mentioned to me she wanted a gun, and that she used to have a ruger 22 rifle. So I figured, I should wait on my 2nd gun and hook her up. So it looks like the auto will have to wait for next paycheck or the holidays.

So talking with a friend, he said if you are going to get a 22 rifle for her, get her the 10 22. You cant go wrong with that gun. They had two Ruger 10 22's in stock, one with the walnut stock and one with the stainless steel/black composite stock. The later really caught my eye and was only 20 bucks more. So tonight I'm going to surprise her with this:

I think she will be surprised by this gift. If she does not like it, I can keep it for myself. The guy at the gun shop said the 10 22 was an exceptional rifle, and said you really can't beat the price as it will out shoot guns twice or three times its value.

Can't wait to get the wife and I to the range and try them out.

Welcome to the board!
Ruger Single action revolvers are built like tanks!
But I don't see what you needed a rifle for when you got that long pistol Barrel :)
The 10/22 is a fine rifle and has tons of aftermarket support.
Good Choices!
