I'm thinking of getting a new CCW holster, have looked at several local gunstores but couldn't find much in my price range. I currently carry a Rock Island Armory .45, 5" in a clip-on belt holster and I hate it. After a few minutes, the clip digs into my hip bone (I'm pretty skinny, about 180 lbs) and it becomes very uncomfortable to carry. A friend suggested these holsters to me, what do you guys think about them? Had any experiences with them?

I like the way the pistol sits in them and the price is well within my current range, at $28.99 starting out. I'm working on persuading the wife right now.

I have a couple of Fobus paddle holsters. One for my G17/G22 and one for my SIG P220. They are good IMO, but only for OWB carry in the winter under a jacket or other concealment garment. Your price range for good carry holsters will need to move up the scale to just at or under $100 per holster in the future and involve some leather at some point. Then you need a good quality belt to support the weight. I've found some of the DeSantis line, as well as the Mitch Rosen line somewhat affordable from $54 to $75. Concealed carry isn't a hobby, and you'll need to count on your equipment as much or more than your pistol. Start thinking about next summer and what you'll do then. Kydex is good IMO, but even some of those IWB holsters go around $50. I'm just merely pointing things out so you don't kid yourself into thinking carrying and what's involed are inexpensive. The costs can be limited though no doubt, and you never want to end up with a drawer full o holsters that never see daylight. Good luck with everything.

I don't know much about these but I have seen a video that showed a person coming up from behind and grabbing one like this and pulling up and snapping it off. I believe that's why the comment about a cover coat or shirt was made so this would not occur. It does look like a nice holster though as long as you keep it covered.

I do plan on concealing it, as I do with my current holster. I carry all summer, covering my pistol with only a t-shirt. Nobody has ever said anything about it, including cops.

I understand the concept of depending on your equipment when it's needed, therefore not buying cheap crap. However, at the current time, having just returned to work and with lay-off season looming, I don't have a lot of money to spend on a fainsey holster. I have had my permit for going on 3 years now, so I know it's not a cheap man's game. On the other hand, who wants to overpay for something.

Also, any holster I get will have to be OWB. I'm to boney to put a pistol on my hip without something in between the gun and me, it would rub to bad. Like I said before, I carry a full-size 1911 in a belt clip holster under a t-shirt year round and have had no problems. I go shopping with the wife and everywhere I need to while carrying with this holster. It does get a little uncomfortable from time to time, that's why I'm looking to get a better one.
