That all depends on the accuracy of your setup and your shooting skill. A .243 will kill a yote farther out than you can hit with it. I've shot yotes out as far as 450 yards before but try to keep my shots within 300-350 yards.

Please refer to the sticky thread about increasing accuracy of factory rifles at the top of this section. Having a good scope mounted properly and basic accurizing techniques such as glass/pillar bedding, free floating the barrel, trigger adjustment/trigger job, and hand lapping the bolt/bore will go a long way as will working up a good load or trying several different factory loads until you find 1 that your rifle "likes".

If you sight in 3" high (with standard height rings) at 100 yards will put you pretty close at 300 yards.

    Welcome t-rav,
You will love that .243. Light on recoil and very flat shooting. I have a 6X24X50 on my Sako AII heavy barrel and it's a tack driver out to 400 yards. What rifle did you get ?? Photos ?? Bear and I should be able to help you squeeze the most out of it. Don't be afraid to ask questions...
