I'm putting some new sights on my(JD's old) Kimber custom target 2. Currently it's wearing bomar adjustable night sights, they are getting dim.

I'm Wanting to stick with night sights, but which ones? Adjustables are not neccessary.

What about some Novak's? Is it the same dovetail cut?

How about seeing if Trijicon will replace the diodes in your BoMars?

Goju, I think I sent you the original non-night sights as well. Perhaps you can work out a trade for both sets you have for one set that you want, if Rock's idea doesn't pan out.

That was one of the last things I had to do on that pistol before the .460 conversion. Get rid of that big oil rig platform rear sight. Turned out with the conversion, I actually needed to adjust them. (Damn it )

I have Novak's on a couple of my 1911's and I do love them, but I am a three dot preferred when it comes to night sights. ;)

I prefer the three dot night sights as well. I'll probably go that route.

    Goju,

Truglo does not currently make sights for the 1911 platform. I talked to them at the Shot Show when I boght a new set for Glass's Glock 19. They said they were working on them but don't know when they will come out.

PS, I did buy a few set's for the AR

Ok, maybe I'm confused...............but how are you going to replace Bomar adjustable sights with just plain old Novack's or something similar? Most 1911s that have Bomars on them have a decent amount of the slide machined off on the back. Am I seeing this wrong? Someone clue me in please.

When I'm thinking Bomars I'm thinking something like this...............................

Yes. Mine has the slide machined like that. What are my options?

Well you can see if you can get the tritium replaced, or buy some new Bomars, or buy a replacement rear sight like I posted above from Harrison Custom. There might be other makers out there that make a sight like the Harrison, but I don't know who they are.

The reason I know about Harrison Custom is because the Springfield TGO II that I posted pictures of above had the Bomars, and I hated them for EDC. They cut into your sides, poke you and grab your clothing. I was going to replace them with the Harrison Custom model until I decided to trade the gun for a Dan Wesson CBOB.

I replaced my adjustable sights on my range officer with adjustable xs big dots. I am thrilled with them and my smith was able to drop them in with very little work.

Tripp Research offered their new rear sight for me to test but I have no Bomar cut 1911s.

    Tripp Research Inc. Accessories

Not sure they offer it in a "night" version.

But then isn't adjustable target night sights an oxymoron?

If you're going to carry that puppy I'd look into the Harrison Custom.
