Need Some Decisiveness

Hey all. I want to get another gun, for home/office defense, possibly concealed carry. What I already have:

Mossberg 590A1 shotgun (home)
Benelli M3 shotgun (home)
old model S&W 9mm Compact (8+1) (currently my "office" firearm)
Ruger SP101 .357 (home and conceal carry)

I'm a fan of the simplicity and reliability of revolvers, and was intending to get another Ruger SP101 to keep at the office (and move the 9mm to the home safe), but the dealer hasn't been able to get ahold of the particular model I want, and due to recent events I've decided to get high capacity semi-automatic while it's still legal to do so (from the looks of sales reports, looks like the rest of you are doing the same!).

I don't have any particular price limit.

After much research, my eyes keep returning to the Springfield XDM .45 Compact

I know there are probably 10 different good answers. Any guidance? (And maybe the right answer is a particular semi-auto rifle instead since that's the thing I lack?)

I have some guidance. Get to the gun store as fast as you can and buy whatever you can get your hands on while you still can.

Dont buy into the hysteria like soooo many others.

Cooler heads WILL prevail as we move away from this tragedy.
Springfield xdm is a outstanding choice.

If you like wheel guns you cant beat a good ruger in a big bore. I would suggest something for double duty fun and defense since you already got a couple small guns.

I'm trying to maintain a healthy balance of hysteria and cool-headedness.
Step One: Get a 1911
Step Two: Drink the Kool-Aid that comes with it.
Step Three: Shun all other guns.
Step Four: Kick back and enjoy life. You just found true perfection, I don't care what that Austrian fella says.
If you let the hysteria pass you can find a good deal on a rifle. Walmart has good deals on rifles if you want one now. I have noticed that prices are dropping on everything except AR-15's and a few guns that are in high demand, since the election.
With what I'm seeing in the ammo sections at Wal-Mart, Gander, Dunham's and my LGS you might want to think about staying with a caliber you already own or move off to one of the less popular calibers that are still on the shelves in good supply.

I'm not going to lie, I don't even have one but am totally cool-aided up! There really is no better gun or platform. Just shoot it and you'll know. Even though I love my look-alike Firestars, they're no 1911. Wouldn't trade a one of them for any 1911, but definitely want to add one to the collection some day.
