I have come in to some extra money as of late, and always wanting a 1911, I have narrowed it down to these three models
Dan Wesson CBOB .45
Dan Wesson COC .45
Kimber Ultra Carry II

This handgun will be used for daily carry and home protection. I would appreciate opinions of these models only but welcome input on these
Thanks

My favorite 1911 is my CBOB. I have owned a Les Baer TRS and a Springfield Mil Spec that I sent through Springfield Custom & Novak's. Both the Baer and the SA were excellent pistols, with the edge going to the Baer. The only one I still have is the CBOB.

With 230gr. FMJ, it's a mellow shooter. With +P HP's, it's downright snappy & fun to shoot.

Try and shoot them all. Only you know what feels right. They're all good pistols.

I have two Sig 1911's, two Kimber 1911's, and a DW CBOB. I've carried the Kimbers almost exclusively for years, but now the DW is gonna get worked into the rotation. I think the CBOB is tighter, more accurate, and has a better trigger than my other ones. Don't get me wrong, all of them are nice shooting pistols, but I give the edge to the CBOB .

Out of the ones you listed I would prefer the Kimber.

Here is my baseline Compact II:

I preferred the frame on it to the shorter Ultra II frame. I added the Hogue Combats after shooting it the second time to help control muzzle flip and get the front sight back down quicker. Other than that, the only thing I would do to it is add night sights. I absolutely love this pistol. Of 20 or so pistols that I've handled, it has been the nicest for the money.

Damn, called out again for my bias... LOL

The 1911 is the greatest handgun platform going today in my opinion. John Browning was an absolute God among Men.

Of the three models listed, I think the Dan Wesson will probably be more affordable, but I feel the quality of the Kimber is a bit better overall.

Have you shot them? And if so, what feels the best to you?

I carried a Kimber Pro Raptor II for a couple of years and loved the weapon, except for the ambi safety. I sold it off for about what I paid for it and now I carry a 4.25" Nighthawk.

Having owned 3 Kimbers, and still being in possession of 2 of them, I don't have any reservations about recommending them.

Of the ones you listed, I have the CBOB and the Ultra CarryII. Both outstanding weapons, but strictly from an "ease of daily carry" standpoint, I'd prefer the Utlra Carry II over the CBOB. The UCII is obviously smaller, but also quite a bit lighter and for all day every day carry is just mroe comfortable. You can't go wrong with either one though!
Good luck in your decision!

Dang nice pistoly dude!!
It's all right. It slings lead pretty well and has never failed to feed, fire or extract. I would like to get some sort of coating put on it, as well as some Meprolight 2 color night sights. Other than that though, I wouldn't change a thing about it, not even polishing the sear and trigger. They're already pretty nice, I'd be afraid to screw them up.

have the kimber ultra carry and love it. shoots great and looks good. you may also want to look at the springfiel micro compact (45 cal) or emp (9mm). they are almost identical and shoot very well also. between my wife and i we have all three. the springfield micro compact also comes in a model with a light and rail which is the one my wife carries.
