I recently acquired this rifle from a friend but I need help identifying exactly what it is and need to find a stock for it.

I will follow up with some pictures when I can get them sized to fit.

As far as I can find out it is a 6.5mm Mauser and it has double triggers.

There is hardly any stamping on it the only numbers on it are 6.5 on top in front of the action and behind the front site, opposite on the underside of the barrel is 365.

It may be easier if anyone wants to see pictures of the rifle to email me at [email protected].

Hmmmm. That safety looks familiar. So does the magazine in front of the trigger
guard. I'm pretty sure it's a 6.5 Carcano that someone has put a set trigger
setup on.

The Carcano's main claim to fame is that one was used in
Dallas Texas in the early 60's.

Carcano's came in 6.5 and 7.35mm, and used a clip which held 5 rounds and fell
out the bottom when empty.

If you want to try making a gunstock, or doing some creative gunsmithing or
re-finishing, go for it. You won't diminish the value---it really doesn't have any.

Considering I got the gun for nothing I am willing to put a little money into it to get it up and going. And as far as being worried about depreciating its value by modifying it I'm not worried about it.

Thanks.
