Hey guys I just inherited my grandfathers .22 rifle. It's a Marilan, Lever Action .22. Has Original golden 39A stamped on the barrel a picatiny rail on the top. The back sites fold down for mounting the scope. Was just looking for any info on the firearm, age, price, rarity etc. Not planing on selling I just like to know the history. any help with links or any other info would be great. I will post a pic when i'm not at work and photobucket isn't being stupid.
    Thanks again

The Golden 39A started production in 1960, and 1988 changed to the 39AS- with a hammer block safety. Prices will vary sharply based on condition and exact model, but somewhere AROUND $400. Incredibly well made rifles- my grandkids are shooting the one Mom bought my Dad.

For the MOST history on Marlin Rifles you will ever find anywhere, go to Marlin Owner's and Rimfire Central...
those two sites have more repair & history info on the 39A-series than you will find anywhere...
    and its SOLID info...no foolin!

Those older 39A's are worth their weight in Gold, now that Remington is running Marlin...

Remove white plastic inserts, use some 320-grit sandpaper and run around the edge until white, re-install ;)
