I just bought a CVA Wolf Muzzleloader and i like it pretty well. I Have 200$ to spend on a scope but i am absolutely clueless about them. I will probably be happy with whatever i get i just want something that is good quality and has a lifetime warranty.

I have had a Simmons Whitetail Classic since about 1990. First had it on a 7 mm Rem Mag. untill about 5 years ago. Then switched it to a .22 wsm and have abused it since. Held up so well, I purchased another one 3 years ago and put it on my Knight in line. So far so good. Have killed a deer with it every year since. Have not had any problems, or had to adjust the zero since intial sight in. The Nikon Omega probably is a brighter scope, but you can find a Simmons Whitetail Classic for $100 anymore. Time well tell, if the Simmons will hold up to the smoke pole.

That nikon scope looked pretty good... i like how it had different markings for the range.... dead center for 100yds and just a little lower for 150 and just a little lower for 200 ect.... does bushnell make a good scope?

Bushnell trophy XLT, elite 3200 and 4200 are great scopes. Banners are ok but I would go with a Vortex over the banner any day of the week.

I myself would shy away from simmons the last two are the only two scopes that have ever broke on me. Neither of mine would hold zero and neither could shot a box if you tried. I rank them in the BSA, NcStar catagory. Now that is me R-bolt had a good simmons. Maybe some of the Simmons are good but I will never waste my money on them again.

I have 2 nikon Monarchs and a Bushnell elite 4200. I will buy more of these in the future. My deer rifle has a Simmons on it and I had to replace it with a new scope for deer season. I didn't even get a season out of that scope. My Vortex is a crossfire 4-12x40mm

Both are in the same legauge with the Sightron possibly out shining the Bushnell. I would rank both at the same level.

I read on another discussion board that Simmons had been purchased about 4 years ago and the production moved to China. Per some post, the quality is no longer any good. I have seen some of the new scopes for sale in different packaging, no longer in a box and wondered what was up. I guess both of mine were older production scopes and have gooton along fine.
Also saw the Whitetail classics could be puchased for $60.00. I think I paid around $120.00 in the 1990 timeframe. Does not matter there about half price now if there no longer a good scope.

    Nikon Omega Muzzleloader scope

    Logo,
Go to Nikonhunting.com, click on the Spot On logo, it'll take you to a site where you can enter all your load/scope data for Omega BDC scope. I have used this scope twice and I am impressed each time by the repeatable accuracy.
The Spot On site will give you the distances for each circle on the BDC reticle.
You can even generate a printable field reference ballistic chart which will give you the distances of each circle for each magnification setting on the scope. There is a BDC 250 and a BDC 300 now. Let me know what you think.

Well I have decided to get the nikon scope but I just realized I don't have mounts for it. I have holes drilled in my gun for a mount though. I found the scope on opticsplanet.com for an even 200 with free shipping. The scope doesn't come with mounts does it? What kind of mount should I get?

    mounts

You should be able to easily get by with Med. rings. Don't buy the cheapest, ask around about what is good. I try not to tell folks what I think they should buy. I give them information to help make an informed decision the rest is up to them. I think you will be very happy with your scope. Put some pics up after you get everything mounted.

well i just called a local firearms/sports shop and they said they can get me a base and rings for a total of 50$ I would imagine that the stuff they carry is halfway decent quality.... But i really am clueless so i would really appreciate it if someone wouldnt mind posting a decent set of rings and a base on here so i have some idea what im looking for when i go in there

Here is a 1.5-5x32mm for $90 you should check out....a discontinued model TR1 Nitrex which is pretty much a Weaver Grand Slam scope. Optics in it will match or exceed any scope mentioned so far to you. Retail on it was about $300, but Natchez has reduced price and then the $50 Nitrex rebate make it a very good bargain on a really nice scope.

Nitrex TR One 1.5-5x32mm Rifle Scope Matte Finish TrexPlex Reticle - Natchez Shooters Supplies TR One 1.5-5x32mm Rifle Scope Matte Finish TrexPlex Reticle

Other Nitrex TR1 and TR2 scopes at greatly reduced prices available that are all really nice scopes for bargain prices....Japanese optics that are quite good.
