ok. so i just got my hsc yesterday (easy test by the way). so now im able to legally purchase firearms in california. Now my problem is what to get (as CA is strict on their guns). my main issue right now is $$$. im really looking to spend $200 and under. i had the firearm i wished to purchase but after finding out the local gun store was going to charge me $100 for them to receive it (i was going to be ordering online and shipping to them) and i deem this unacceptable as the gun was $150-ish. so why would i wanna pay nearly the entire cost of the gun to a gun store just for receiving it? if it makes any difference i was looking at hi-point firearms as they are (at least as i understand it) cheap but reliable guns. my purpose for a gun is home protection (at any givin time my job requires me to have a lot of money in cash @ home .) so just a nice handgun will do. my questions are does every gun store charge $100 just to receive your firearms in california or is this store just milking profits? i was hoping to simply pay for the firearm to be sent to a dealer and pay them the registration fee without any extra supposed "taxes". because if i pay $150 for the gun...$100 to the store and $25 for registration its no longer a $200 gun...its closer to $300... so can someone help me with how to do this or let me know if its just that specific firearms dealer or is it all CA dealers who charge $100 to receive your firearms.
