I just got a Norinco AK I need help identifying it. It has a slanted receiver with no tang to hold a normal stock, it has an SKS style mag release. It has a flip up notch sight similar to an AR only this is a notch sight. The gas tube slides into the receiver and the sight sits on top of the gas tube and it has no pistol grip, and a saiga style forend. I will post pics when I get home, if you know anything about it please let me know. Thanks

A Norinco Hunter model. Or a Sporter model.

Standard AK furniture doesn't fit readily because of the altered receiver. Standard AK sights don't fit because of the front trunion differences. Was made to appeal to hunters who wanted to use the 7.62x39 ammo that was cheap but didn't want an AK.

Ok thanks. So is there a different stock I could put on it?

Not one that fits readily that I'm aware of. The rear trunion is different and lacks the mounting hardware for a standard AK type stock. Also the slant cut rear and upper shelf don't alow some of the other adapters to fit, like some of those from ACE that would work on a Norinco MAK-90 (AK clone). Also the trigger assembly is moved to the rear, which means a pistol grip won't fit without drilling out the rivits, and installing a different trigger and moving the trigger guard forward. But on that rifle I don't know that that move would really work out either with the mag release and the forward slant cut to the receiver.

I'm not even sure what mags work with those.

Sorry, for the lack of info. I remember seeing these in the early to mid 1990's so, the memory is a bit fuzzy.
