Anybody got any plans or pics of gun racks they have built out of wood. I'm looking for dimension and styles for a rack that would give me a top holder and bottom for stocks. It would be a 2 piece design for my new gun room.

Here are a few. Things you may want to think about.
    • how many long guns should it hold?
    • are any of them scoped?
    • do any require additional width (long bolts)?
    • did you want the rack to provide some level of security?

None are two piece design, but an adequate bearing surface could negate the vertical stiles.

These are some of the design criteria. Pehaps I could work with you and any volunteers in providing a dimensioned drawing for you, if nothing can be found

Materials depend somewhat on your tools availaility.

These racks are not mine, but I am a wood worker and do a lot of my own designs.

I don't know the dimensions, but my friend built this for someone.

I also like the one with the cable. I can see that as a two piece. What I have done so far is take the largest recoil pad I have for measurements and am figuring out width. Started laying it out on the CNC mill and I looks like a 2"x5" pocket cut with a 3/4" endmill is the way to go. Put it on a 30 degree tilt so the scoped guns don't go straight back. I'm going to test cut some scrap first.

One of my 'other forums' is http://www.woodworkingtalk.com/
I am more of a reader there, less of a poster.

But, this is probably one of the best places to get some help.

A lot of them Use Google SketchUp as a design tool ITS FREE !
Free is probably the best part, it's wide spread use makes it a top choice for colaboration (of really just file sharing).

This is what I built. I engraved the top. Each are 23.5 inches wide, and holds 5 long guns.
