Hi all,

New gun owner here and I need a suggestion for a belt holster. I'm taking the CCW class in a few weeks and the class requires that we have a holster. I don't plan on carrying a gun very often or even at all but I would like to have a holster just to have. So i'm looking for something that's inexpensive and isn't too big or bulky. I've been eyeing the Glock combat/sport holster because it's inexpensive and has gotten good reviews. Any other suggestions?

I said that too when I first got my license but now I carry everyday, everywhere I go. Why spend the money and not use it. I use a pretty cheap holster for my 1911A1, not sure how a Glock 19 will fit it. It's a Federal Holster, I think. Got it at a local gun store for $25, but looking for something different.

WAIT!!! before you buy a holster don't make the same mistake i made. i was looking for an affordable holster as well. this led me to purchase one cheap holster after another. the cumualative cost equaled to if not exceeded the cost of a good quality holster. cheap holsters are just that; CHEAP. i suggest buying a galco. there are many more quality brands out there but i happen to favor galco. the Summer Comfort Holster is good if you like inside the waistband holsters. they also make belt and paddle holsters.

Me too! I, also, won't own a cheap holster because it just never turns out to be worth it and, usually sooner rather than later, ends up being thrown into the, 'holster barrel'.

Anyway, just so you know what one of the best holsters in the world for any Glock is, here's what a lot of people consider to be the, 'gold standard' for Model 19 concealed carry:

Unlike many posters on this site, I do not claim any expertise in this area. That does not mean I don't have an opinion.

It seems to me that when you buy a gun, you have at least some expectation of using it off the range. Especially if you are buying a holster and taking a CCW class.

No matter how "good" the gun is (everyone has their own definition here), if you can't hit your target reliably, it is a lousy gun for you. Buy one you can shoot comfortably and, more importantly, accurately. Cost is a concern for everyone but functionality should not be compromised in this area.

The same thinking would apply to a holster. If it doesn't keep the weapon safely on your belt and, when needed, allow you to draw the gun quickly and surely, those few dollars you saved on the purchase can buy some lovely flowers for your funeral.

I completely agree with the previous comment regarding the accumulated cost of multiple cheap holsters that don't work versus the cost of one quality holster. It just doesn't make sense to waste your money on cheap junk for such a vital purchase.

Once again, this is just one man's opinion. I am sure you will get many others.

I use the Bianchi Carrylok...its awesome, always stays open on reholstering and is locked in until I'm ready to draw. No straps.
