I can't link it but it's on TMZ this morning.
CBS, producer of CSI New Orleans decided to film a jewelry store robbery on location. The problem was they didn't tell anyone or get permits from the city!

The owner of a neighboring store saw a van pull up and saw these jump out

Of course he called the real police who showed up in force thinking it was real!
Unfortunately, no Hollywood people were harmed in the making of the film.

I wonder if they get charged for inducing a panic.

I forgot to put the reason for the article:
The actors are suing CBS for endangering their lives. :D

    Sorry for forgetting that.

What a bunch of dinks!!!! If you were shooting a scene like this wouldn’t they first thing you would do be tell all the people in the surrounding area and let local law enforcement know!!!!

I don’t know- I can definitely sympathize with the actors here- having a firearm pointed at you is a pretty traumatic experience- especially because the cops think you are robbing a jewelry store and you have a sub machine gun- the cops could have shot them out of fear. I’d be pretty traumatized by that too. The producers of the show are idiots.

Informing the police just slipped his mind. He will blame it on the gopher.
Liberal mantra is never accept blame.

As someone who has A, been shot, B, had more than one gun pointed at him, and C, worked as an extra in a couple films, one being a heist film, that was being shot in Buffalo NY, that was a pretty big **** up, on the part of production, and someone easily could have been killed.

I'm not one to sue, but had I been one of them, my first call after it was over epild be to my attorney, to file a lawsuit, against them, for endangering my damn life. Somebody screwed up, and a nice bug chunk of money, that would be donated to a charity they hate, in their name, would go a long way towards making sure they made sure I's were dotted, and T's were crossed, the next time they were shooting on location.

And it wasn't just the actors and crew members at risk. That endangered the general public as well, within the range of those weapons.

That's not that far out there. Wouldn't notifying the police and secure the proper permits be a reasonable standard of care?

I don’t know anything about the film industry but I would think so. And I would think that said permits certainly involve notifying local law enforcement and probably notifying they local businesses- but I’m not in charge of the New Orleans permitting boards- if I was- I’d probably make some common sense rules- like don’t whip out a machine gun in public without letting the cops know that you’re just filming a TV show
