Sks with AK mods
Chinese SKS. (has the icepick bayonet).
Fitted with an aftermarket "duckbill" magazine of some sort.
The original 10 rd magazine is propping up the fore-end.
Or were you looking for a "name" for your gun?
It's a girl. I think we should call it Frieda.
I'd love to own an SKS with a spike bayonet.
Did you re-due the stock? That is one fine looking SKS!
It shall be Ju-long.
Hahaha thats awesome
Nah my friend kept saying he has an ak...and it doesn't look like mine
I believe someone stated it already but it looks like an sks to me
Is this technically an AK-47?
No.. its an sks. Theres no mistaking that.
The sks came before the AK.
Looks to be a Model "M"
Shoots the same rounds though right?
Correct. Shoots the 7.62x39
I was thinking Victor
Sorry, thought you were asking for a name to christen it.
It is a Chinese Type 56 rifle, that has had a modification to use a detachable magazine- or could be a Model D/M of the above.
This was the Chinese version of the Soviet SKS- which is short for Samozaryadnyj Karabin sistemy Simonova, 1945 (Russian: Самозарядный карабин системы Симонова, 1945; Self-loading Carbine of (the) Simonov system, 1945), or SKS 45,
First fielded in 1945, fires the same 7.62x39 cartridge that the AK-47 uses.
As stated above, it is an SKS, not an AK-47. It may use the same style magazines and the same caliber as an AK, but that's where the similarities end. The internal mechanics are completely different (not to mention the stock and bayonet)
How about you call it Simon.
