I'll keep this updated as it goes, but right now I've got a Saiga 12 that I've completely torn apart.

I've got a new trigger spring coming in, as well as the conversion kit to move the firing group forward and place a pistol grip, and new butt stock on. I also have a low brass reliability kit en route. All of this is ordered from Carolina Shooters Supply.

Will keep you guys updates with pics and steps...

The new stock is 3.5 inches shorter than the original, taking me down to 37.5 LOA.

    Camo pattern I'm working on....

It's Atacs camo, I'm going to try and duplicate it with some spray paint and sponges... That should be a separate thread, but maybe I'll attach the write-up on this thread... Who knows.

    First attempt at atacs.

I think I've got the colors right, but I didn't let coats dry between colors, hence the smudges.

You might could find it a little cheaper if you look around, but a lot of non converted ones I've seen online have been going for about $400.

If you don't know of another one nearby, I'd grab it. IF that's what you want. I don't know much about them, other than I would like to have one.

Sounds reasonable to me.. They are great rifles and can take a beating and keep on shooting.. If you get it tho.. Spend the extra money and convert it.. Value goes up and it's such a better gun afterwards...

So... The washer they give you for the trigger guard juts out a bit. A Dremel sanding disc took care of that.
The replacement stock has no holes, and must be drilled before using the original screws.

To add... I said that a Dremel sanding disc takes care of that. To clarify. I am referring to dremeling a space in the stock that slides (more like must be beaten with foul language) into the rear of the receiver. I had to Dremel a space here in order for it to slide over the trigger guard washer.

Thank you! It's a fun little project.
There's a lot of customization you can do on these saigas, but you gotta be brave enough to jump in and drill, chop, saw...
