Now most of you know that Lady Glass is making my gun belt rig for Cowboy Action Shooting. Well she has finished the belt and is working now on the holster and it is about 2/3rds finished. Here are a few pictures of my belt. Please understand that it has been drying for two days but is still wet with oil and will still need about a week or so to dry out. Glass did a pretty nice job if I do say so myself.

Linda, that is an outstanding belt!

The only thing I'd add is a small patch of timber rattler hide!

Scub that looks great. I am going to make one for me, because no one makes a cowboy rig like that for a 1911. So I have to do it myself.

Did Glass use a generic belt and tool it, or did she cut it from bulk? I love the Texas Ranger style.

    Darin,

Glass made it from scratch. She bought a complete cow hide and started in, she did pick up some patterns from Tandy to study that had different types of cowboy belts and we decided on the Mexican Buscalareo type of belt. She then made the pattern and cut the belt out of the hide. All the tooling was done by Glass and the design for the ammo loops is hers. It weaves in and out of the belt and is covered by the inner lining. The strip of leather below the round loops is to keep the round from being pushed all the way through and I will be able to reload quickly.

Glass has some patterns for a straight belt that you could use for a 1911 and a whole bunch of patterns for holsters to include the 1911. Drop her a pm I’m sure she would be glad to help you if you need it.

Now she is finishing the drop holster for the right side and then will make a cross draw for the let side. I’ll let you know how that comes out.

Cane: Linda liked your idea on the rattler and when she gets something on her mind look out.

Very nice belt! She has some definite talent. Are you going to be shooting SASS? If so, will you be using a cross-draw on a second revolver?
