A buddy bought a 20 ga, 870 express and lost the barrel. He bought a barrel for it, but not being a very savvy gun guy, he got a "large ring" 20 ga barrel for the old 20's built on the 12 ga frame.

He decided the gun was just going to frustrate him so he gave it to me. I picked up an 18" barrel from Midway USA and now have a light weight 2 ga riot gun. Should serve the wife well. Total investment $149.

I am awaiting Choate's web site to get upgraded so I can order a +2 mag tube extension. I will add a side saddle to round it out. Handy little gun. Now I just need to buy a couple of cases of 20 ga ammo.

I have been collecting a few odd rounds of 20 ga and have nearly 100 Winchester AA hulls. I guess I need to invest in a Lee shotshell loader too.

Choate's site is up and running....BUT they want $48 and change for a +2 extension AND they want over $10 shipping. Ridiculous! I don't think I need 7 round capacity THAT bad. Shame on you Choate for gouging like that. You make quality stuff, but the pricing is out of line, IMHO

I like it. No tacticool look. Just a straight "get the hell outta my house" look. Nice!

Robocop, very nice looking 870! I like the wood furniture for sure. My 870 20g has the synthetic, but it's still my favorite shotgun. Gotta love those 20 gauges, good luck with yours.

It's all personal preference. Go with what you feel comfortable with.

I have several 12 ga shotguns and find them more versitile overall. From ultra light handicap loads to heavy buch shot and Slug loads. The 12 ga is supreme.

The 20 was added simply because it was FREE. I have never owned a 20 ga and "needed" one to round out the collection. It will likely become my wife's zombie gun. If I only had one shotgun, it would be a 12 ga.
