My little ten year old went and made me sign the papers for him to be a Sea Cadet.
He did the week long boot camp, got the PT excellence award and the sharp shooter pin. I'm pretty proud of the little guy. His attitude is for different after getting dragged out of bed at 5am while sleeping at attention.

I'm proud as hell of him

He's not even my boy and I feel proud as hell to see that kind of dedication. Congrats on having a boy like that. I need to straight up send my boy to military school. He's that bad.....

    Outstanding!
You should be proud. And he should be proud of himself. I'm sure it wasn't easy but he stuck to it. It makes me feel a little better whenever I hear of a young person taking steps to be the best they can be. Too many kids these days seem like they just don't care about anything. And these are the leaders of our future?

In those pictures I see some fine young men & women. Maybe we'll be OK after all :)

Very cool stuff there. Instilling and reinforcing discipline at a young age will pay huge dividends in his later years...

The whole thing was a shock me me. I'd never heard of the Sea Cadets until he started doing the after school program. I could see a sure difference with him just doing that so when he wanted to do the boot camp week I was all for it.

Mom was a wreck over it. We dropped them off on Sunday and weren't allowed to go beyond the front room and dragged them out of bed at 4 or 5am to run, march, shoot, etc.

The kid left kind of laid back, shy, and quiet. He came home with the ego of a lion. Highly recomended for any kid.
