I decided that I don't really need my single-six and that I want something more than just my 9mm for home defense,so I went to a local gunstore in search of a cheap shotgun. After the owner offered me $280 for the single-six,I noticed an 18" Remington 870 sitting there NIB for $315,so I jumped on it.It will be a few days before I go shoot it,but do you think I did ok?
Very decent price and those 870 have a lots of potential. You can dress them up quite nicely. IMHO, good find.
Make sure you check the Remington website - they have $30 cash back on 870 express models until December 31st (started August 1st). So you might have done really well if you can take advantage of that! Rebates and Promotions - Firearm Rebates - Ammunition Rebates
Hey,thanks for the info!I just put my UPC and reciepts in an envelope with the rebate sheet.Maybe my wife will b*&^% only half as hard now since I spent $60 more than I was supposed to.
Looks good, and I'd say you did good on the price. I just bought a Benelli Nova 20 gauge pump, with what looks like the same finish. My opinion of the Benelli? So far not the best, it doesn't feed ammo correctly, often dropping the round out of the magazine rather than loading it. Hopefully this will clear up as it loosen's up. Plus, the stock hammers my cheekbone everytime I shoot it, and that's with light target loads. And I paid $380 for the Benelli.
You did well! The 870 is one of the most durable shotguns in the industry and is also very versatile. If you want a different length barrel or choke in the future new and used barrels are very accessible. I have an 870 also and have three barrels for it. 30" Full 26" Improved and Rifle Sight Barrel for deer. As we said you did very well. And it is a terrific home defense weapon with multiple selection of ammunition. Something about when a dirt bag hears the "RACK" of the Pump Gun!!!!! Good Job! 03
