Marlin only made the "1936" models in 1936 and 1937 when the model was changed to "36". The Marlin book says the 1936's did not come equipped with sling swivels(but slightly possible if book is wrong). Yours appears to be a first variation. Sold for $32.00 new.

Why would you care if it is a family hand down. I have an old .22 s l lr single shot that is $50.00 book value. You couldn't offer me enough for it. I have an old Cooey Winchester Western shotgun that could be worth 250.00 or 1500.00 depending on the model grade, but there is no real way to know unless someone really knows the firearm. I'm fine w/ that. Just enjoy it and cherish it.

I have a couple hand me downs that have been in the family forever and even though I would never sell would still want to know the value...just out of curiosity

Its hard to put an exact price on it with out seeing the gun. Lets say $600 up to maybe $900. If the sling swivels are add-ons that hurts. I will say its the nicest one I've seen(and I've been around the block).
