Winchester 1897 12 gauge built in 1913 that my dad traded away when I was a kid. One of his best friends found where it ended up about 5 years after my dad passed away and bought it and gave it to me. Cost: $0, value: Priceless.

I've gotten a couple. The most recent was this one I suppose.

1995 Harrington & Richardson 999 Sportsman, 6" barrel. The only thing wrong is the rear sight is missing. I made one, but really need to go ahead and order one.

    $138.00 out the door.

    Two come to mind.
    1. At a local gun show- flat broke, but wanted to drool over the guns. One seller had a bunch of ammo rolled up in a canvas strip- whole thing was about 15 inches across- asked what he wanted for it- said $5. Well, I DID have $5. Pulled out a few assorted rounds for my cartridge collection. Sorted out the rest. Included some 30-40 Krag, 40 rounds of .348 Winchester, 60 rds of 7.62 NATO Tracer, and 10 rounds of copper cased 45-70 (Benet primed) I sold the ammo to 4 different dealers, and was left with the strip of canvas- and realized it was an early machinegun belt. Sold that to a Class III dealer. Walked out with $100 in cash.

    2. Local auction. Bidding on 2 boxes of assorted junk sitting on a small wooden desk (with a broken leg)- wanted a nice wood plane in one box. Got the 2 boxes for a dollar. Auction moved down the way to another pile, when a guy offered me $5.00 for a motor that was in one box. Sure. When I was loading boxes into my truck auction staff said "Don't forget your desk." Seems the desk went with the boxes. When I got home, was pulling the drawers, and in the back of the bottom drawer was a nice little nickeled .32 S&W hammerless. (loaded). I called the auctioneer next day- he advised that sale had been from an estate, no one had declared any guns, it was in a lot I bought, and was now mine. Fixed leg on desk, daughter used it for 10 years. Got the plane,a desk, a pistol, and $4 cash.

A guy walked into my shop just after I had received my FFL, he wanted me to look over & buy some rifles he had, I told him I wasn't yet stocking rifles...
His answer was he was getting a divorce & he was selling all 6 for $300-on top of that I could keep the big box of ammo. One of the rifles was a Marlin 336 with a decent scope, easily worth $300 by itself!

I won't mention the free guns that are given to me a couple of times a year, but here is my Armscorp M14 that set me back $12.50.

Had to trade a Walther P99 .40 for the JAE stock, but did not mind as the stock sells for about $1,100.

    Best deal ever?!

Well, I have made lots of great deals on "things"... But, the best deal for my
$100.00 would be the Beagle pup known as Goober that still holds our family
record as the smartest one & longest lived one! (4-12-1992 to 9-21-2008)!

S&W Model 58, 41 magnum, first year of manufacture (1964), 98% condition, $165 from pawn shop that did not have a clue as to what they had.

Ruger Super Blackhawk 7 1/2" .44 Mag, $165. To make it even better, traded that to a friend that "had" to have it for a nice pinned and recessed 6" S&W M-29

    Best deal I ever had.

I belonged to the Missouri Vally Arms Collectors club. We had a big gun show in KC Kansas (across the river) I volunteered to watch the door, checking guns that came in to make sure they were not loaded and general security duties. I was standing in the doorway looking up and down the hall of the big convention center when I noticed a little old lady walking down the hall. She had a paper sack in here hands, holding it like it was a bomb and she was afraid it would go off if she as much as jiggled it. I left my post and long legged it down the hall. I stopped the elderly lady and asked politely. "Mam'am do you have a firearm in that paper bag. She almost jumped out of her skin and looked so guilty that I regreted using those words immediately. She stammered "Yesss Yesss, my husband died and I never knew he had a GUN in the house. I was hoping to sell it here to someone that needed one of these things." "May I look at it Mam'am I replied and she shoved the sack into my hands like it was burnig her hands. I opened it up just a little and peeked in and found myself looking at a German Luger. I pulled the Luger out and dropped the magazine and sure enough it was fully loaded. Jacking the breech up and back tossed a live round out on the floor. It frightened the little old lady so much that I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance. I asked her how much she wanted for the gun and she said brightly that her neighbor had looked at it and said he would buy it for $75. (That s.o.b) So I looked sympathetically at the little old lady and told her that she didn't need to go into the convention center where there were guns every where. I would give her the $75 for her husbands pistol. And I did. As I was leaving I told her that her husband would be happy that someone got his pistol that enjoyed the quality of workmanship that the Germans did in making their firearms. And then as a after thought I told her to go to her neighbor and tell him that he was right. The gun was worth $75. And thank him for his help.

    So uh, Sarge
If the old lady's neighbor was a sob for telling her that luger was only worth $75.00 what does that make you for paying the $75?

    My broomhandle Mauser...

In 9mm Luger! Most of the ones you see @ gun shows are chambered in .30
cal Luger, yet I got one in 9mm that needed a fresh spring-kit for a mere
$250! A good "shooter" is worth 4 times that! :)

I traded a GP100 and a RG22T for a S&W Model 25-2 (John Jovino Effector) revolver. If you can find one they run anywhere from 800 up. With about 300 in the GP100 and25 bucks in the RG I figure I made out pretty well:)

I spotted one on gunbroker last night that the current bid is 775.00

Haven't gotten anything for free, but I've been lucky with some deals.

    a .357 security six and a .357/9mm blackhawk for $150 each.

The blackhawk was caught in a garage fire, and the guy just wanted to get rid of it. Only problem with it was the grips were a bit singed, and a dime-sized spot of bluing was damaged from some melted plastic. Had it checked out, got some replacement grips off of e-bay ($5), and it was good to go.

a Taurus m44 4" for ~$200 (can't remember the price). Bought it from a range that was going out of business, use it as my hiking/hunting backup. Shoots great.

    LOL!:D
Loved the story, but I think I would have at least sprung for $100.;)

I haven't stumbled on any smokin' deals yet, not like the ones posted here. But I sure am keeping my eyes open.
