Look what my wife let me have for our 25th. A rock river arms LAR-8. I put a nikon p-223 scope and a bipod on it. I got to shoot it for the first time the other day and I didn't do too bad, it being my first time to shoot and my first AR platform. I know some would think I went to big for my first, but what the heck. I like to go big or go home, know what I mean? Anyhoo, I think I made the right choice. I will use for deer hunting mainly. So what do you think? Do I have an awsome wife or what? Also, here is my hunting blind I got from my daughter, it was in here back yard and she didn't want it, so I took it and fixed it up. My grand kids are going to help me paint it some form of camo.

That is great! Sure have a good wife and daughter there man! I like the rifle. Does it have the 2 Stage NM Trigger in it also! I have hunted deer in Texas with mine using Hornady 150 Gr.SST Bullets and it did excellent. 150 yards 1 Shot to the Heart and Lungs and the Deer "Well" DRT!
Great rifle! I know you will be happy with it and I also like the fact you can use Inch or Metric FN-LAR Magazines you can get from anywhere. Here is a shot of my RRA LAR-08

That is nice! If i ever get around to getting an AR, that would be along the lines of my dream rifle: AR accuracy, range, and bullets heavy enough to do something at range.

Nice rig....but I have a question. Why would you select optics calibrated to the .223/5.56x45 cartridge for a .308/7.62x51 rifle?

My local gun guy didn't have the one for the 308. And besides, the other reason is my first choice was getting the rock river arms in .223, but after looking and researching on the forums, I decided that the .223 wasn't big enough for deer. So I decided for the .308, maybe hogwash to some but that's why I chose the .308. The scope works fine, maybe if my dealer gets one in stock, I might see about a trade.
