Over the past couple of years, I've owned (for a least a short time) about 2 dozen 1911s of varying makes and models. I'm now down to the 4 I consider my keepers:

1st generation (1997) Kimber Gold Match:

Very nice. I'm glad that you're so politically correct, that's great diversity. ;)

Very nice! I see the commander has an extended trigger while the Springer has a short trigger. The others seem standard. Do you notice any practical differences when shooting between them?
    Thanks for the pics!

For pin shoots, it's the Kimber as I can literally shoot that one with my eyes closed - it's like it has radar. Like them all really and I don't notice the difference between the long and short triggers...

Don't you love it when you find a pistol that just "becomes a part of you" and you know that what you're looking at is going to be hit, even without looking at the sights? It's a beautiful thing. :)
Thanks for the opinion on the triggers.

I used that Kimber in the very first bowling pin shoot I ever tried. I was visiting Hinesville (outside of Savannah) and the local shooting group arranged to have a match while I was there. (We're all members of a GA gun forum).

I was very nervous as I'd never shot a head-to-head match and most of the folks I was shooting against were active Army soldiers - half my age. Imagine my surprise when my trusty Kimber led me to victory! Some guns just "blend" with you to get the job done and this one does that for me...

Isn't that commander the same type as the Colt WWI commemorative?
