If it's flash you are concerned about go with the Smith Vortex. FSC makes a hybrid that is so-so for muzzle rise, and flash suppression.

if you dont want to go with a nice threaded barrel i'd suggest the flash suppressor

To make legal length it would have to be perm attached unless he has a registered SBR lower.
