Ok guys, I am not new to guns at all, but I have never owned one. I am looking at an MP5 for target shooting and a good learning platform in order to do customizations and upgrades to guns. Is this a good choice? Or am I way off? Thanks in advance for any replies. By the way, I did search this before posting

Do you mean the MP5 .22lr? If it is .22lr, you might want to check out the S&W M&P 15-22. Accessories like the real AR15 can be put on there.

Non MOE is about $400 if you are lucky to find a deal. Then about $500 with Magpul sights, stock and grip.

That's exactly the price range I was hoping for. I will definitely look into this. Is this a good gun for buying parts to do upgrades with? I mean a good platform to do upgrades to and are parts easy to come by?

Is it only in 22LR? Or can that be changed? Or would I have to buy a different gun altogether?

I'm fairly certain it's only able to be .22lr.

On a .22 it should be non existent.

The 22lr cartridge from a rifle is as KyTowboater said, non-existent.

If you are interested in something similar, an AR15 is a 5.56x45, but can be easily converted to 22lr. This will be more expensive though.

My suggestion? A bolt action 22lr for your first firearm. Semi auto's and high capacity mags have a tendency to promote poor accuracy in someone new to the game.

As stated a bolt action .22lr would be a VG place to start. Target shooting and semi autos rarely go together.

I've got the gsg5 version really reliable, great with cci minimags. Hk make the newer 522 version now more fitted out as standard. I am sure there are many other versions over there.

That's a fake suppressor aka barrel shroud. Get it and design yours at Kineti Tech. Less than $60 shipped. Nice eh? :)
