Part 1. So my wife tells me to get out of the house today and she will spend mother's day with our daughter. Well, OK. So I hit the rifle range with my shooting partner who was coming up to my neck of the woods to see his family for Mom's day. He has a new Ruger Gunsite rifle that he has not fired, and his Rem700 has been getting all dressed up over the last few months but is now done. It started off as a laminated stock 700 Varmint in .223, as seen on the right side of this picture from our squirrel hunting trip last year. It shot OK, but he was never thrilled with it. It was a 1/12. So a few months ago he sent it away and had a Pac-Nor 19" medium heavy 1/7 installed. He also had it chambered for .223 Ackley Improved. It came back about a month ago. Then, he ordered a McRee's Precision Stock at SHOT and it arrived last week. A Magpul grip, some new Picatinny bases, some temporary glass (IOR 6X42), and off to the range. We lapped and aligned the rings (IOR steel) at the range today, and they turned out nice. He needed to make some .223AI brass, so we fired off a couple of hundred rds of Rem .223. Presto! Instant AI brass.
