I was it at Dicks Sporting Goods earlier this week. I was wondering if anyone owns the Mossberg Whitetail Lightning or had experience with this rifle. I usually do a youtube search for reviews but could not find a review for this one. This particular rifle is chambered in 243 Win.

Sure it will work. Just a normal mossy 100art with some bull turd advetising. Lots of solid deer rifles out there . I am not that found of the 243 for deer in the hands of a newbe as you will need to pick your bullet well and be a bit more skilled in placeing a kill shot. LGS price on the mossy run closer to 375 and look for a 308 if traveling to hunt with it.

Dicks is normally very pricy, I don't buy anything from them unless they have some really impressive clearance sale. I have found much better deals at Wal-Mart beleive it or not. Mossberg ATRs for $249, Savage Edge for the same price, scoped Savage 110 scoped combos for $386 (bought two of those) even a Wby Vanguard on sale for $335 which I am still kicking myself for not getting.

Unfortunately, I live in IL so since there are Walmarts in Cook Co, and we all know how Cook Co. Illinois is with firearms, that means that the 4 Walmarts in Champaign Co. lllinois follow suit. These Walmarts sell absolutely 0 firearms.

Unless you hunt mostly out of state in rifle country I would look at a good slug gun or a compound bow. better chance of good buck.
