I have no first hand experience but have been looking into the same thing as you. After quite a bit of research I think that the Marlin 795 may be a bit more reliable and accurate. It's only 10 bucks more here at my local Academy. But there is no reliable high capacity mag available. I think the general consensus is for a SA .22lr with good high cap mags go with the ruger 10/22 if you can swing it

I've got the bolt action model. Friend had the semi version. Bolt is a touch more accurate. I've had mine since I turned 18, been through 3 car wrecks many squirrel and rabbit excursions, countless thousands of rounds. Still a tack driver as far as I can see. Ammo hasn't made a matter.

IIRC my friend while he had his, would shoot any ammo with no issues. For the price it's a great deal.

I owned a plinkster for a while. I didn't have any issues with it. I just didn't like the way the plinkster handled so I sold it. The plinkster is bore sighted from the factory. If you notice the rear sight pushed over to one side or the other, pass on that particular gun. The sights are not centered properly.

Good tip. Thanks.

Sounds good y'all. Academy has one for $130.
Dicks has a Camo version for $145.
Im thinking about going with Camo. It's gonna be a survival/bug out gun so I think the Camo will do well.

Had one for about 6 or 7 years. Didn't have any problems with it. It shot any brand ammo I fed it. Let my brother in law talk me out of it, replaced with a Henry. No Regrets.
