I really want, for my first HD shotgun, a reliable solid sturdy tac light attached to the forend. Mossberg 590A1 (the gun I've decided on) has a "Light Forend" model which comes with a factory Insight tac light built into the forend. I'm not positive how many lumens it puts out , although it might be 120. Does anyone out there have experience with the Insight ? Should I just get the stock (no light) 590A1 and go aftermarket (Surefire ?) instead ? Thanx in advance for any opinions and advice !

I have a 590 with the SureFire built into the fore end. The only thing I do not like about the setup is that the weapon itself feels very muzzle heavy and slightly unbalanced. It may be because of the long tube, heat shield, etc. but all this weight combined makes it just a little awkward for clearing rooms and such.
I would think that saving some weight with a smaller tactical light would be nice. This being said I still love my 590.

Do not try an after market clamp light to the mag tube. I did, epic fail. The clamp wouldn't hold up to the shock so I modified it and it held. Then the light quit working. All this in two outings.
