How many is to many?
When you run out of room in your house. Until then, have at it. There are enough various models to keep you busy for quite a while.
Why is this in the rimfire forum?
Was wondering the same thing.. Mods need to move this to the C&R forum.. Oh and what Tex said... Can never have too many NM's.
No such thing...
That's like asking "what's overkill?"
My Mosin-itius was cured after just one.... Its all these other mil-surps I cant seem to get my "fix" of...
Like I said TONS of variants.
1891 Mosin Nagant Infantry Rifle (the origional Mosin)
Dragoon Mosin Nagant (intended for mounted infantry)
Cossack Mosin Nagant (simular to Dragoon, but was sighted for use without the bayonet)
1907 Mosin Nagant Carbine (11.4" shorter then the 1891. The stock went almost to the front sights, so it did not us a bayonet)
1891/30 Mosin Nagant (the rifle many of us have. Most Dragoons, were converted into this.)
1938 Mosin Nagant Carbine (8" shorter then the 1891/30. Meant to be used by troops that would see very little combat if any)
1944 Mosin Nagant Carbine (simular to the 1938, but had a permanently affixed, side-folding cruciform-spike bayonet.)
1891/59 Mosin Nagant Carbine (A shortened version of the 1891/30. The rear sight numbers were ground off, but other then that it is very simular to the 1938)
And that is just the Russian Variants! Many other countries had their own variants too.
I want to collect them all.
Here is a good list of them (about half way down the page) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosin–Nagant#Russia.2FUSSR
I'm not sure why I put it in there I just posted it and it ended up there.Sorry.
There's no such thing as to many
That's right I got my first one and I have mosins on my my mind all day its an addiction!
Same here but the bad part is I don't like mosins just the history of them lol
idk I have two 91/30's and I'm planning on getting a m44 but I still feel like need more idk
please use the report post button to get our attention faster!! its not just for naughtiness!!
I've got 1 mosin with a hez reciever even though its an octagonal reciever. How rare are hex recuevers?
I can tell you for a fact that 32 is not enough. I am watching several on GB as we type.
32!!! Can I come to your house to play?
Come on down. I don't have any safe queens and I keep a pile of surplus on hand. When we get tired of the bolts we can break out an SVT-40 for kicks and giggles.
Now I really want to come. But it is too far away.
How rare are hex receiver? It was my first mosin I got. I know that they are actually octagonal but how rare?
1. I think only three flats show on top, the reason they are called hex receivers. Not sure though.
2. They aren't very rare, and many people believe (maybe rightfully, I don't know) that the hex receiver is a stronger built gun.
They only switched to round receivers for manufacturing costs and speed. Much cheaper and quicker to mill a round receiver.
