+1 for the CZ 452, my varmint in 22lr paired with a Weaver V-16 scope will hold its own against rifles costing twice the priceThese days, an CZ 452 or 453 isn in my opinion the best bang for the buck. These rifles will shoot along with anchutz, model 52 winchester, 541T remingtons and coopers. Not bad for a 4-500$ rifle, CZ's have threaded barrels that screw into the billet receiver.
Of course an old Mossberg in good shape is scary accurate in the right hands.
You haven't shot many .22's, have you?i have found the ruger 10/22 to be the best.(for a stock gun)
You can buy a good Suhl 150 for around $1000 to $1200.The most accurate is going to be one of two rifles an Anny or a shul 150 them shuls are crazy accurate. A Marlin Ruger or any other will not hold a candle to what a shul or anny will do. The remington 40x may come close and a cooper as well.
I would be willing to part with my let testicle for a shul or a kidney. Haven't seen one going for under $2000.....
+1prolly most accurate off the shelf .22 long rifle is the Marlin... they have the micro groove rifleing down and they shoot well
a 22lr sighted in at 100 yards drops about 30 inches at 200... I would pay LOTS of money to see someone shoot a 1/2 group at 200.. MoA at 200 is 2"...
100 yards yes, with a properly tuned rifle, 200, I dont think so..
