I posted earlier about a used No3 I bought that had been modified by the previous owner by the installation of a fiberglass stock and forend designed for a No1, which didn’t leave proper clearance for the lever, and the installation of a target profile 45-70 barrel.

I tracked down an original carbine style stock, but due to the nonstandard barrel profile the barrel band won’t fit, I’m going to do something else on the forend wood.

I’m thinking along the line of the wood on a target rifle from the 1890s. But haven’t quite decided on an actual profile.

So, does anyone have pictures of an appropriate forend shape that you like?

I have an Alex Henry, that I’m thinking of reshaping to give more of the Schnabel emphasis.

I am thinking of installing a leather recoil pad. I watched Larry Potterfield, the owner of Midway, do one on the Midway YouTube channel. It looks pretty straight forward.
