And who says this place cannot be educational? Never heard the term- Mondegreen? Well, it is the term for a garbled quote- usually of a poem or song lyric. It started with a Scot poem- (mis)quoted as: Ye Highlands and ye Lowlands, Oh, where hae ye been? They hae slain the Earl o' Moray, And Lady Mondegreen However- that last line was SUPPOSED to be: "And laid him on the green" A few classic Mondegreens - From Bad Moon Arising- "There's a bathroom on the right...." And Hendrix- in Purple Haze- does NOT say "Scuse me while I kiss dis guy..." And I once knew a young woman who thought Arlo Guthrie sang about "Coming into Los Angeles- Bringing in a couple of geese..." So- you got a Mondegreen to add to the list?
