Anyone ever talking about savage 99's anymore?
I would love to have the whole 99 collection.
Anyone know anything about the model 1895 savage?

While I'm no expert I've seen a few over the years and I'd love to get my hands on a nice one in .300 Savage. Great, classic lever gun.

The Mdl.99 Savage is a very nice rifle. The Mdl.1899 made before 1951 are the ones to own. My 99 was made in 1950 the cut off year for collectable 99s.
The Mdl. 1895 was only produced a short time. The total 1895 production was 5,000 rifles. They are expensive. ;)

The better ones are made before 1951 and are collectable, but all of them are pretty good rifles and all of them will be collectable before it's over. They just don't build em like that any more. That's one rifle that I've got to add to the collection one day. :)

The reason the pre 1951 rifles are collectible is quality. Post 1950 rifles suffered from poor quality issues. Many bores were off center magazine counters dropped fit and finish issues.
The Post 1965 Mdl. 70 Winchester suffered quality issues. They have never became collectible quality Winchesters. Study not guessing is helpful if you want to collect firearms.;)

I'll buy it; you got change for a quarter? :D

Sorry, but I couldn't resist that. I have no idea what it's worth. I have a hard time with gun prices now. You can go to gun broker or guns America and get a rough idea.

My 1899 in very good condition is worth 1500 with blued barrel. I got steel barrel so prolly around 1550 or 1600. I need a 99-H and a 99-E. I don't care what calibers

That's what I mean by me having a hard time with gun prices now. I would have guessed around half that.

Yea i got the firearms blue book and it has pretty much every gun and a little about it. That's what it gave me for a price.

Have prices for the 99 climbed that much? Last year I was looking for one in .300 Savage. I know there are differences by model and age but they all seemed to be selling on Gun Broker for around $600-800 in good condition. The only ones selling for much more were the take down models, which seemed to sell for a couple grand.
