How many rounds can a 1975 Winchester Model 94 .30-.30 hold? I just bought it today for $325. Is that a fair price? It is in average condition.

I really, really, would like to see (not first hand, maybe a video) of what happens when a tube mag is filled with very pointy rounds...

Can you still use round nose bullets in this particular rifle safely?

Round nosed would PROBABLY be safe- but- in the words of Dirty Harry-

"You have to ask yourself- Do I feel lucky? Well.....Do ya?"

Stick with the flat tips or the plastic tipped Leverloution ammo, and that is one question you will never have to ask. Being wrong would be painful. Very painful.

my M94 holds six rounds, kind of varies by barrel length, as they had several different barrel lengths ans magazine tube lengths over the years.

$325 is a good price if it's in decent shape, especially beings it was made in 1975. i gave $270 for mine in near mint condition, made in the mid 1990's.

Mine holds 7 shells, according to the serial number it was make sometime during ww2, they apparently didn't keep good tabs on them in those years with the war going on so the specific year is a crapshoot according to the Winchester Serial number guide.

Mine is in the serial range of 1,350,000 and I was pretty sure mine's a 1945.

    Or perhaps these?

    http://www.hornady.com/store/30-30-Win-160-gr-FTX-LEVERevolution/

They are promoted as safe for tubular magazines, and I have used them since they were released with no problems.

Oops! I now see c3shooter addressed the issue in post #7. You know what they say about great minds running in the same channels....

    The Wichester 94.

    THE
    true all American classic.:)

Just say "94" and every red blooded American immediately thinks of John Wayne, "Matt Dillon" Gary Cooper, and the American west. Fort Apache, and Monument Valley and the "Golden spike.":)

And the deer hunting woods from New York, to Wyoming to California.

Yeah, if there's one "All American" gun, it'e the 94.:p

AND, it was designed by John Browning.

Round nose WILL work. If they would not work, then Remington would not produce factory .30-30 round nose ammo. Many years ago, when I had a model 94 30-30, I used round nose with no issues.

I love it!!!!!! I just got back from shooting it. It has more of a kick than I expected, but it shoots good and it's just plain old fun!
