Anyone done business with these guys? Is their uppers worth looking into?
I've never been impressed with their specs or prices once you add it all up.
Rguns has stripped uppers for 99$, how's their stuff?
ordered a 7.62x39 from model 1. Will be around christmas before I receive. watching midway to see if they get one first, though.
Mod 1 a toss up in my opinion. Not the best choice that is all I will say!
i live about 45 to 50 minutes from rguns. total skip unless you stop in their shop to buy some ammo or one of their milsurps. their cs is abysmal. if you have an issue after the sale.... lets just say our benghazi consulate got more help from obama than rguns will give ya aftr the sale or during the order process.
I really feel for you guy's that ordered uppers from Model 1. I have bought/used several of their uppers over the years.
I went to the Original Ft.Worth gun show this past sunday, and as usual,Model 1 had about 10 table's of their stuff there. I'd bet they had 50-75 complete uppers setting on their uppers stand waiting to be sold on the spot.
I don't understand why they are taking so long to deliver stuff to you guy's. They are at almost every DFW gun show, and have plenty of complete uppers and every other AR part in stock/for sale on their tables.
Bought a few things from them. Got traingle hand guards from them (how can you screw up handguards), and got a SP1 clone stripped upper. The upper had problems mating with milspec sight assembly, so I had to do some filing. Also didn't have a cutout for the auto sear, not that I needed it, but the authenticity was what I was looking for at the time. Just thought I would give my .02.
Sounds like they're not worth the hassle!
Know a few people that have. Basically, they generally offer entry-level quality at (mostly) entry level pricing...with a variety of build recipes at your disposal. I think that's a pretty cool option and the couple guys I've known to use them have been happy enough with their product. If they have what you want in stock (especially if we're talking oddball, like 24" uppers, etc), they could be a valued resource.
I probably won't ever buy from them because most of their stuff simply isn't in my 'wheelhouse' of preference. But they are bookmarked amongst my favorites as an option and point of reference.
RGuns = Good enough product, lousy customer service, potential indefinite wait. That really sums it all up. You buy from them, you'll get a decent product at a good price...and it'll arrive in 6-12 months. I've been waiting on a NiB BCG from them for 4+ months now. They haven't charged me and I really don't need it...so no big deal. If I needed it, that would suck.
If you intend to piece together a quality build at a fair price right now, PSA and BCM are nearly impossible to beat. If you want cheaper still, try MApartsinc. Not necessarily PSA/BCM quality, but good quality at a very fair price IMO. Good deals on complete uppers (with BCH/CH) for under $500. And I've heard their complete uppers tend to ship with M16 bolt carriers. Their stock is live, and will be at your door in days.
You get what you pay for. Arguably more, with BCM/PSA. Just my opinion.
What did you order in 7.62 39? A barrel? YHM has one in stock. 16" 1:10 fluted , chrome lined, and threaded in 1/2x36 if that's what your looking for $216.75
complete upper. Want to get one for a DPMS. Going to keep a check with MApartsinc though. Got an email that said they might have in stock by end of June.
