Can anyone recommend a good scope for a Ruger mk.lll for general purpose use (plinking,small game,etc.).

You're not going to get a better scope than an fixed 2x EER scope for all-round use. Some people like the red dot non-magnfication optics but I personally feel they're not precise enough. All of my handgun scopes are Leupold, Burris, Nikon, or Weaver.
