Is it ironic that this is happening in the "show me state"?

More seriously, wouldn't that be a defacto gun registry? If that is illegal for the BATF, why isn't it illegal for the various state/county agencies?
Yes, i realize there are states that require firearms owners to have a "permit to buy" or something like the Sillinois FOID cards for firearms owners; that doesn't mean i think either is legal or right.
