I have a couple of aftermarket metal mags that are crap. Does anyone know how well the pro mags work? Obviously i would prefer factory, but I am having a hard time finding them for under $50 for a 30rd mag.

Think I mentioned this in another thread. After market mags for Mini-14's are a crap shoot. I've had some that work, some that don't. Bought two plastic Pro Mags last week. They fit, but haven't been to the range yet. Don't know if they'll work.

Any idea where I can find some factory mags at a decent price?

    CDNN has them for $39.99.

As far as ProMags, in the past I have had decent luck with their steel 20's, not much luck with their steel 30's.

All I use these days are Ruger factory mags.

I've got a couple metal promag 20rd mags that work very well and a couple that don't and never have. I stocked up pretty good on factory 20rd mags over the years and I know they are high but they are very, very good magazines and should easily last for many years if taken care of.

I bought a Pro Mag 20 round this week based on what others have said about them.
...... at the range I loaded 15 rounds into it, at about round 10 two rounds pop out of the top of the mag as the bolt is cycling while I rapid fire it.
Lesson learned.... Factory mags for me.

Metal mags can be tweaked, you can tap the lips down just a hair and they will work.

I have all factory 20's & 30's, 6 of each, and 3 40's that I have had to "baby" but they are 100% reliable. I learned my lesson with a 75 rd drum for the mini: worked for about 6 weeks before it started to malfunction at least once per load. It's long been trashed...do a lot of buying from CDNN, but he drum didn't come from them.
