MetroArms makes a quality gun at a great price. My Gov't Model has been 100% reliable at about 1000 rounds now, it is accurate (it makes me look good!) and just downright fun to shoot. It has taken all kinds of ammo thru it and uses mags like Cheaper Than Dirt's $5.97 Military mags, ProMAg, ACT, MecGar, Chip McCormack and Kimber Mags...not one problem. 'Nuff said!

It's definitely not going to blow up in your hand. Depending on which model you are interested in, you may have some feeding issues. The commander models and also the early Amigo models were prone to have improperly cut frames, poorly fitted mag catches and slide stops. I bought a commander model and it had serious problems right out of the box. I couldn't get the gun to fire a single mag without problems. The first round would nose-dive into the frame instead of sliding up the feed ramp. The good thing is that they use the same warranty centers as Bersa pistols, so if you have problems, you can contact the importer, Eagle Imports, and make arrangements to have it worked on at a warranty center. After I got mine back from the warranty center, it has not had any problems.

Funky, i have very good things to say about them as i am on my second one now. the first one a blued full size Government model, American Classic II, that functioned perfectly. shot a couple thousand rounds through it with zero problems. very well made pistol and i was very impressed with it due to it's cost. my second one, an American Classic II Commander in hard chrome finish. the only issue it had was shell ejection. every third or fourth shell, it would eject the shell and hit me in the forehead! simple extractor tuning resolved the problem. several hundreds of rounds through this one and zero problems now. i shoot both factory loaded ammo and my own reloads, using 230 gr FMJ, 230 gr JHP, and 200 gr JHP with not one problem. now the only areas i have an issue with are the magazines. i buy higher quality mags for daily use and relegate the factory mags to range use. the other area is the finish. i wish the finish was just a little better, but it's not bad. these are great pistols and good pistols for someone to get wanting a quality 1911 without spending a fortune. would i recommend them or buy another? yes i would recommend them without hesitation and yes i would definately buy another without hesitation also.
