A friend of mine has had this 7mm Mauser for years and knows nothing about it. I do not either. It appears to be a military rifle but I do not understand the cheap and cheesy looking chrome handguard band. The bore looks good and he says it shoots accurate. We cannot find any markings, just a number Q67XX on the left side of receiver and FXXX on the bolt. What does he have and is there any value? He wants to sell it. Thanks in advance!

We have some Mauser fanatics that should be along shortly, and give you better info. However, from the pics, he has a military rifle that was "sporterized"- stock cut to a civilian sporter style, and metal may have been polished removing some of the stampings. As such, it has a value as a shooter, not the higher value a collector's gun would have. Sorry....

Spanish Mauser. Small ring action. Cocks on closing. Stock has been shortened (sporterized, bubba'd, ruined depending on your perspective). Barrel band got chromed for some unknown reason.
