I've complained enough about my idiot children...

Oldest has made an incredible and remarkable leap into maturity. She has expressed an interest in getting her conceal license. I don't think she's ready, but I also have pretty high standards. How do others help their children come to the proper decisions? She can legally do it without our help or advice, but still looks to her parents for guidance. She has limited experience with shooting. Her and my schedule are challenging to get together to spend more time shooting. Mom may have a better opportunity than I.

Sounds like she is over 21 and therefore unless she is still living on your dime, it is her decision to make. You should encourage her towards proper training and the responsibilities that will come with the decision.

I think you should suggest to her a couple of handgun training classes. Maybe do some research and recommend certain trainers / courses to her.

    She's on her own dime.

Handgun classes is not a bad idea, assuming one can be worked in with her work schedule.
