I have recently purchased a new marlin xl7 in 270 winchester. I am wondering if I can instal a new stock on it, I know that there isn't an aftermarket stock made for it yet, but I'm wondering if this rifle can be used in a bell and carlson carebelite stock, either in the winchester model 70 configuration, or the remington 700. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I doubt it will work as it is neither a model 70 or 700. From what I have seen and understand is that they (Marlin took things form Savage, Remington and others) combined them all into a rifle and made it cheap. If there is no after market stock made for it then you may be able to get an action that is bigger and bed it to the stock but that takes a lot of work and would end up costing more then the rifle is worth.

If you wanted to you may be able to get a laminate or walnut stock from Boyds or Richards microfit.
