I haven't heard anything but its probably BS.

OK- C3, your friendly rumor control officer here-

    A. George Soros does NOT own Freedom Group.
    B. Freedom Group owns Remington, which bought Marlin.
    C. Marlin closed the New Haven Conn. factory about 2 years ago, and relocated.
    D. Marlin is alive and well, doing business from a new location.
    E. Now go buy a Marlin to see that they STAY open.

    E.

From the above post is the most important. Marlin makes a great firearm to this day....I wish they would bring back the shotguns.

I bought an XT-22TR not too long ago. It was made in Mayfield if that tells you anything. I've bought 5 Marlins in the past 3 years. I guess I'm doing my part.

They acquired LC Smith & H&R, which specialized in Shotguns...seeing no reason to continue the Marlin name on shotguns,
they specialized only in rifles and let the LCSmith branch handle the Expensive ones,
and Harrington & Richardson handle the cheap/intermediate stuff...

What will happen now that Freedom Group is in charge...nobody knows... ;)

I've got 2 Marlin 90s, one in 12 and one in 16. They are some of my favorite shotguns to shoot and to my knowledge the only American made over/under. Simple, strong, light and easy to point....they're great.
