I have an old Marlin 39 that I inherited from my dad. It's still a great shooting gun, except the last round out of the magazine will get jammed in the action every time . I have given the gun a good cleaning , but it still happens. I'm guessing the gun is a 50s vintage. Has anyone else had this?

Could be the wrong inner magazine tube, wrong follower, or weak mag spring. Or dirty mag tube.

Spring maybe. I gave the gun a good cleaning before I shot it, and all the parts are stock to my knowledge.

Last round? I'm betting mag spring. Possible it is a fouled mag tube. Must be disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. While it is apart, give the spring a stretch. If it is the spring this will TEMPORARILY fix it. The spring will relax again to the previous condition and the problem will resurface.

Just traced the serial #. It was made in 1950. Shoots great for a 60+ year old gun! If I can fix that last round jam, it would be perfect!
