How good is the marlin 336 .30-30 rifle and what does the price usually go for? I got it and a mossberg 385kb bolt action 20 gauge in a trade. I jus want to know everyone's opinion on these two guns. Thanks

the marlin 336 is an excellent rifle. worth of the rifle will vary as to type and finish, condition, age and many other things. the mossberg 385 20ga, i'm not familiar with. take them to a knowledgeable gunsmith and have him check them out and he will be able to give you a more detailed answer as to the worth of those guns.

The Marlin started out as the model 1893 then the model 36 then the 336. So it has been around a long time. After 118 years proof enough that it is a good rifle. Your Mossberg is functionally a good gun but very unpopular. Prices vary but the Marlin sells for $200 to $400 on average(many variations). The Mossberg maybe $50.

I have the Marlin 336C in 30-30. (the carbine version of the 336 you are asking about). I have had it many years and it has taken deer and bear in heavy wooded and mountain areas of Upstate NY where I am.

Mine has scratches on the stock from going through brush but otherwise in very good condition considering all the woods time it has on it. The value would depend on the condition of it. Last time I checked the value was in the $350 range.

    The Mossberg, I don't know.

The 336 is a great rifle and arguably stronger then the Winchester 94(not bashing it). I'm personally in the market for one of them myself.

Thanks everyone! The 336 I have is in excellent condition. I haven't got to shoot it yet. The 20 gauge isn't in the best condition and I've have got to shoot it. I like it.
