    Where does it say it was a 30-06?

    It doesn't say it in the article but the News Talk station that I was listening to had an interview with the man and that's where the 30-06 came from.

    Yeah I don't get #1 why you would be getting use to a new rifle while its loaded and #2 with said rifle being loaded why in the hell did you pull the trigger!

    I follow some common sense rules at home.

    1) If it's not the 1 gun being used for HD/SD, it stays unloaded.

    2) Always double check to be sure it's unloaded,

    every time you pick it up.

    3) Wait until arrival at hunting-shooting-range destination to load

    any firearm.

    The really screwy thing here is 30.06 isn't even close to a HD

    caliber...

    I heard about this on the radio. All I can say is they are lucky to be alive.
