Ordered the magpul afg2 for my ar and itll be here sometime tomorrow and i cant wait to see how the weapon handles with it attached. I punched in the tracking number and its in transit in champaine ill right now. Anyone else use the afg? How do u like it? I handled a doublestar m4 at a gunshow with one attached and loved it.

I had one on my ARs and liked them but am currently running w/ no forgrip except the stubby on my DD which I use as a hand stop. I need to break down and anti up for a couple Gear Sector hand stops.

I have the AFG on my rifle. I like it alot since when I used to use a vertical grip, I would end up gripping the forend the same way as the AFG is used.
It would be a hair more comfortable if it were a middy, but with my carbine it does work fine.

Put them on two of my AR's and discovered I prefer to use them without the finder notch.

Nice kit bushman, love the stock too. Is it a magpul? I looked into getting one but my rifle is a full length A2 and not sure an adjustable stock will work that great on mine. Plus id have to change out the whole rear end.

It's a Magpul ACS. It has a battery compartment in each cheeck piece. AA or CR123's.
I've shot about 1K rounds with the AFG. It works well with my grip. I like to have my thumb wrapped around the forend, which was kind of funky using a conventional vertical grip. My middle and ring finger ended up getting crammed in the grip/forend junction spot. With the AFG all my fingers have a solid spot to go everytime.

I have one on the DD I'm building and like it much more than the vertical grip because to me it turns ur hand to a more natural position and aligns all the muscles in your hand and forearm which makes it easier to steady and maneuver. Just my opinion.

ive seen these afg devices what advantage do they really give over just holding the handguard?? reading magpul's site they say it gives a better grip angle over a verticle grip closer to the handguard flat angle... why not just leave it off if the flat handguard is desirable.

i dont understand it. would like some theory explanation tho. it does looooook cool

Here is my post from another thread. It was talking more about the thumb over grip in general, but relates to this as well.

I've discovered w/ my DD (full auto) ar that if you use the afg with a thumb over barrel grip and extend your left arm fully as well as squaring your stance and leaning into it you can get 14cm groups on full auto at 30m. Its pretty sweet espescially when uncle sams paying for the ammo.

    Never Forget.
